Interests
Years ago I stopped asking people "what they did for a living" and starting asking "what interests you." I've had many an interesting conversation since. True, some people will still talk about work, but many will run off into areas of conversation that I never could have imagined.

| The Eco-Solar Home Tour Before we upgraded the energy efficiency of our own house I took this free tour to see what others were doing. Then we had our house on the tour for 6 years. | Energy Conservation and Alternative Power One of my keenest interests in in energy conservation and alternative power. From intial attempts to make hydrogen in high school to adding geothermal heat to my house, environmental issues are a driving force in my life. I believe that significant climate change will occur in my lifetime (it already has) and that it is vital that I work towards environmental protection. I am most interested in alternative power such as solar and wind power. | |

| Astronomy and the Physical Universe I have long been interested in astronomy and the insights it provides to fundamental physics. Although I don't get out to observe much anymore I keep up a steady diet of magazines and books on the subject. | |

| Reading I am a voracious reader and can very quickly assimilate a book. I almost always have a book on the go with a preference for environmental and historical non-fiction; or, science fiction and fantasy. | |

| History I think community is built when we understand our shared history. I am interested in the history of our city, region, and country. I've also been fortunate that there is information on my family history that dates back to 1750. I've read quite a few popular history books over the years expecially on the exploration of Canada's arctic. | |

| Singing I love to sing both singly and in choirs. I sing in two choirs currently but have sung in many different settings over the years. I would like to try Bluegrass singing some day as I like the energy and the harmonies. Here are links to my choirs Chorealis, and Liederkranz. | |
